The main ball event features local, regional, national and international Houses of performers aged 18+ attracting a national and international audience.
Houses compete in categories – eg: Fantasy, Solo, Group Choreography, Lip Sync Performance and Sex Siren.
the event, hosted by an international MC who inspires and encourages the audience, introduces the categories and communicates with the judges for feedback and scoring.
The vogue ball attracts extensive funding from local and national partners that also attend the event.

CATEGORIES
REALNESS
Realness requires the participant to portray and embody a fully realised concept or character. Your Alter-ego can represent any gender, position or status in society. This would have to read on the runway.. So make it believable.
FANTASY/BIZARRE
This category is serving DESIGN! We want to see the extra-ordinary, the fashion and the extravagance of costume. With the chosen theme in mind, make sure your garment is pushing the boundaries and taking the risks.
SOLO
Who is the fairest of them all? Each house is required to pick the very best to compete in this category. As a solo competitor you will need to create a 1 - 2 minute piece that interprets the chosen theme best. You can pull from any style of vogue you wish (e.g. new way, old way, vogue femme, contortion etc.) You got tricks? Leave them on the runway. But make sure you save room for thirds as the best solo performances will then go on to BATTLE in the final round.
SEX-SIREN
Put the kids to bed and pick a safe-word because this category is bound to get hot. As a pillar of Queer culture, sexuality has played a huge part in how we express ourselves. This is your chance to show us your bad self. You can use more than one dancer from your house.. So why not make it a group thing!
LIP-SYNC
As one of the newest additions to the ball categories, this artform is special to LGBTQ+ society. It has also been platformed on mainstream TV via VH1 and Logo’s ‘RU Paul’s Drag Race’. As a solo category your house would have to choose one Queen/King to represent and then BATTLE for the trophy. What part of Lip-sic for your life do you not understand? No but seriously, we need to see your lips so get in front of that mirror and do those mouth exercises and we will see you on the stage
